How to layer light in a small apartment

Rule one: kill the ceiling light. A single overhead source flattens every face and surface in the room. Replace it with three lower sources — a floor lamp for volume, a table lamp for task, a wall light for depth.

Rule two: vary the height. Light at 40 cm (Halo on a side table), 100 cm (Sol on the wall), and 160 cm (Ombra's paper shade) builds the layered glow you notice in hotel bars and never in offices.

Rule three: dim everything, always. If a light in your home cannot dim, it is a work light. Evenings should end at 1800K — candle colour — and your body will thank you for it.
